Normally, a power switch combines the cable input with the “Over The Air” antenna and a power boost for the OTA signal. It can not be used for satellite connection as the switch does not allow for two-way flow of data that is needed between the satellites LNB and the control box. By adding diplexers and a splitter, this limitation can be resolved.

Dish Network's 722 or 622 DVRs have two tuners which will let you record shows and have output for two TVs with one in HD format. The DVRs have one coax RG6 input, two remote controls, and allows you to watch two different channels on two different TVs or record two different shows and watch a recorded show, or watch one show and record one show.

The cableing and diplexers will combine the “Over The Air” and Satellite input for two TVs and have the OTA program information included with the satellite program guide information. The OTA can also be recorded by the DVRs.

Start by removing the power switch from the wall and identify the three cables (the face plate of the switch should have the labels).

Reference Diagram #1 and do the following:

1. Connect the RG6 coax cable from the outside connection to the in/out of diplexer #1.
2. Connect the vhf/uhf output to cable input of the switch.
3. Connect the SAT (20V 1A MAX / DC Pass) output to the SAT (20V 1A MAX / DC Pass) side of the diplexer #2
4. Connect the output of the TV2 to the vhf/uhf input of diplexer #2
5. Connect the coax cable to TV2 to the in/out of diplexer.

Next go to the location of the TV where the DVR will be installed. There should be a wall plate where the coax cable from TV2 is located, connect a RG6 cable to the wall plate.
Reference Diagram #2 and do the following:

1. Connect the wall plate to the in/out of diplexer #3.
2. Connect the SAT (20V 1A MAX / DC Pass) output to the input of the Dish Network DPP separator.
3. Connect the vhf/uhf output to the input/output of a splitter.
4. Connect one side of the splitter to the “over the air antenna in” of the control box.
5. Connect the other side of the splitter to the home distribution connector of the control box.

The last step is to add the OTA stations to the DVR’s Guide. Aim your OTA antenna towards Local Stations. Using the DVR’s remote, select Menu, 6-System Setup, 9-Local Channels  and then select Scan Locals. When the locals stations are found select done.
Any stations found will now be added to the DVR’s Guide.
